Director of Advocacy and Partnerships

The ILF seeks a Director of Advocacy and Partnerships to contribute to strengthening the impact of the overall work of the ILF by supporting our advocacy portfolio, creating content for communications, and establishing relationships to implement the ILF’s initiatives. The Director of Advocacy and Partnerships will be expected to work with the Executive Director and other senior management to help guide the ILF in implementation of its strategic vision and goals, and will play a key role in developing and implementing the ILF’s communication strategy at the international level, building strategic relationships with governments, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations, law firms, global philanthropy and other key partners to increase awareness, action, and resources devoted to the right to counsel for the indigent accused.

Program Director (Public Defender Capacity Builder)

The ILF seeks a Program Director to lead the ILF’s long-term efforts to build a culture of defense, primarily through the day-by-day, case-by-case mentoring of local legal aid lawyers. The Program Director will be expected to supervise, support, and mentor the management teams at the ILF’s country offices, both on-site and long-distance; develop effective litigation strategies to advance the rights of the criminally accused; and represent the ILF globally, including at conferences and other advocacy forums. The ideal candidate will have appellate and public defender experience and the ability and willingness to travel to post-conflict/transitional countries, including for extended periods of time. This position can be based in either New York or Myanmar.

Communications and Outreach Officer

The ILF seeks a creative, strategic, and thoughtful Communications and Outreach Officer who will amplify the ILF’s voice and mission and create new opportunities for support, partnership, and innovation. The Communications and Outreach Officer will work closely with the Director of Advocacy and Partnerships and the Executive Director to support the communications, partnerships and fundraising effort of the ILF. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in leveraging press, social media and digital communications, and a knowledge and appreciation of how communications can be a tool for change, as well as strong messaging, writing, and editing skills and interpersonal skills.
