The International Legal Foundation (ILF), a not-for-profit organization based in downtown Brooklyn, New York, was created 10 years ago for the purpose of setting up public defender systems in post-conflict countries.  With projects in the West Bank, Nepal and Afghanistan, it currently has 250 employees worldwide.

Program Director: New York City

The ILF seeks a lawyer with substantial criminal defense experience (preferably as a public defender) and a strong commitment to the mission and values of the ILF to fill the position of program director. The program director will lead the ILF’s efforts to establish proactive, skilled and effective defense lawyers in the countries in which the ILF works, and build more effective indigent defense systems. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a team player with strong legal skills (including appellate experience) who enjoys traveling and working with people in other countries/ cultures.

ILF-New York Program Director Position

Development and Communications Officer: New York City

At the ILF’s headquarters in New York, the Development and Communications Officer will help the ILF continue our long-track record of demonstrating the critical importance of the right to counsel in criminal cases on an international level. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and the larger advocacy team to expand the ILF’s network of supporters and collaborators, as well as developing the organization’s external communications. This position will have a range of responsibilities, including planning, researching, and coordinating the increased outreach efforts.
