The International Legal Foundation (ILF), a not-for-profit organization based in midtown Manhattan, New York, was created over 15 years ago for the purpose of setting up public defender systems in post-conflict countries.  With projects in the West Bank, Nepal, Tunisia, Afghanistan, and Myanmar, it currently has over 250 employees worldwide.

Program Officer (New York)

The Program Officer will contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the ILF’s program work, which is aimed at advancing the right of poor and vulnerable accused worldwide, building justice reform movements, and creating effective and sustainable legal aid institutions. Responsibilities include conducting legal research on criminal justice issues around the world, and managing and coordinating the ILF’s grants portfolio. The ideal candidate will be deeply knowledgeable about criminal justice/indigent defense issues and understand the roles that direct services, policy advocacy, and communication can play in advancing social change.
